Josh Brown
Kitsap County
Commissioner, District 3
January 2007 - December 2010
As the senior member of the Kitsap County
Board of Commissioners, Josh Brown represents the Central Kitsap
District which includes the unincorporated communities of
Silverdale, Tracyton, Seabeck, Illahee, Brownsville, Crosby,
Holly, Rocky Point, among others.
He also represents the majority of the residents in the
City of Bremerton.
The son of a Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
worker, Josh graduated from North Kitsap High School
in Poulsbo and the University
of California,
Berkeley, earning a degree in
Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in City and Regional
Planning. After
working as a commercial real estate broker for five years, Josh
settled back home and has since dedicated himself to serving as County Commissioner.
Josh has distinguished himself as a
regional leader, serving as
Kitsap
County’s
primary representative to the Puget Sound Regional Council
(PSRC) on its Executive and Transportation Boards.
In 2008, he chaired the Project Selection Task Force for
PSRC which guaranteed Kitsap County would receive at
minimum its fair share of Federal Transportation grants in the
upcoming round of funding.
As an active member of the Washington State
Association of Counties (WSAC), he has represented Kitsap County
on WSAC’s Legislative Steering Committee since 2007.
Josh provided leadership on behalf of all counties in
Washington State while chairing the County Fiscal Health
Committee which provided options to ease the financial strain
faced by counties.
He currently is President of WSAC’s Western District, serves as
Chair of the Coastal Counties Caucus, and is on Transportation
Committee for the National Association of Counties.
Locally, Josh serves on the boards of
Kitsap Transit, Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority,
Kitsap Regional Coordinating Council, Hood Canal Coordinating
Council, Kitsap County Health District, Cencom and Emergency
Management.
Josh owns a home in Silverdale and enjoys
fishing, camping and baseball.
