Parks and Recreation Open Space (PROS) Plan
Over the past two years, the Kitsap County Parks and Recreation Department has worked with local stewardship and community groups as well as other stakeholders furthering the goals and policies of the Kitsap County’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space (PROS) Plan. These discussions have yielded great progress and proposed amendments to include in the 2012 Plan update.

Newberry Hill Heritage Park News

The WA Board of Natural Resources approved the reconveyance of over 305 acres to Kitsap County.  The reconveyance of State Forest Land will transfer full ownership to the county and serve as the final piece of assembling 1,071 contiguous acres of open space known as Newberry Hill Heritage Park.  The formal process took more than two years to complete.  The transfer of land will help protect the headwaters of Little Anderson Creek drainage and portion of Chico Creek watershed;  salmon spawning habitat in both the Hood Canal and Puget Sound.
