Endresen Receives Graduate Degree
PORT
ORCHARD, WA—Kitsap County
Commissioner Chris Endresen will
receive her Master of Public Administration degree on Friday, June 9, from
the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of
Washington. Endresen earned a 3.7 grade point average in the two-year
program.
“The Evans School
program was perfect for me because I’m always looking for ways to do my job
better,” Endresen said. “This was a fantastic opportunity to learn from the
best practices on innovative business processes and solutions, and look for
ways I can adapt those to the public sector.”
Endresen was accepted
into the Evans School program despite not having an undergraduate degree—the
Evans School made an exception for Endresen because of her 20 years of
experience in local and regional government and her undergraduate record.
When Endresen was
accepted into the Evans School, she was taking classes toward her
undergraduate degree through Bellevue Community College’s online program and
was maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
"Life got in the way
of completing my degree, and I was determined to finally get it,” Endresen
said. “I am the first in my family to earn a college degree, and that makes
it even more special to me.”
The Daniel J. Evans
School of Public Affairs, named for Washington’s former governor and US
senator, is the preeminent school of public policy and management teaching,
research and service in the Northwest. The school is ranked nationally in
the top tier of schools of public policy by US News & World Report.
This year, upwards of
125 Evans School students will graduate with a Master of Public
Administration (MPA) degree, one of the largest graduating classes in the
history of the school.
Alumni of the program
include ex-Seattle Mayor Norman Rice, US Army Major General Peter Chiarelli
and William Center, president of the Washington Council on International
Trade.
