Limited building and fire inspections available from
Kitsap County on June 12 and 13
PORT
ORCHARD, WA — If you’re a construction contractor or homeowner in
unincorporated Kitsap County needing a building or fire inspection, be
advised there will limited service for inspections by county officials on
June 12 and 13.
On those two days, five of Kitsap County’s six building inspectors, three of
their four building plans examiners and all five of the fire marshal's
office staff will be attending either one or both days of a special training
seminar in Silverdale to become fully informed and prepared for new building
code changes coming July 1.
“With only two inspectors available on June 12 and 13, we’re encouraging
people needing inspections to please plan accordingly around these days,”
Kitsap County Building Official Michael Barth said. “We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause, but it’s vital that we are up-to-date with the
latest changes in building codes to serve our customers.”
With a limited staff, Barth said that inspections such as footing,
foundations and other inspections that are vital to the timing of a project
will get priority, while plumbing, mechanical, framing and final inspections
may have to wait.
The training seminar for the staff of the Kitsap County Department of
Community Development and fire marshals will be held at the Island Lake
Community Center in Silverdale. Day one of the seminar will focus on the
International Building Code, the International Fire Code and Washington
State amendments to these codes. Day two will focus on to the International
Residential Code and related state and local amendments.
