Preliminary Design Study available for Miller Bay Road
Multi-Purpose Trail
Kitsap
County, WA — Kitsap
County is planning to construct a new multi-purpose trail along the Miller
Bay Road Corridor from Indianola Road to SR-104. You
can view the Preliminary Design Study on-line here,
or in person at the following locations:
- North Kitsap Fire Station
- Kingston Library
- Kingston Community Center
- The Visitor Center at Port Gamble
- Kitsap County Department of Public Works
The County is ready to move forward with this project,
and wants to share the plan at a Public meeting.
| When: |
February 3, 2009
7:00 pm - 8:30 pm |
| Where: |
North Kitsap Fire
Station
26642 Miller Bay Road |
The meeting includes a briefing on the County's plan and
provides and opportunity to give your input to County Commissioner Steve
Bauer and Public Works staff.
The trail provides a critical link in the
northern section of the Mosquito Fleet Trail. The trail links the Kingston Ferry
Terminal to the Southworth Ferry Terminal along the county’s eastern
shoreline, passing through the communities of Indianola and Suquamish.
This section of the Mosquito Fleet Trail:
-
provides a safe route for bicyclists and pedestrians to
access North Kitsap Heritage Park from the North Kitsap School District
facilities, Indianola, and Suquamish;
-
provides safe access to the SR-104 Park and Ride lot for
bicyclists coming from the south, including Indianola and Suquamish;
-
provides a high-quality, non-motorized and recreational
amenity for residents and visitors in an area that is growing rapidly
and is lacking in bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
In addition to providing local connectivity for
non-motorized users, the link improves the quality of life for residents of
Kitsap County by bringing the Mosquito Fleet Trail one step closer to
completion.
