Port Orchard,
WA—Kitsap
County announced today that Rebecca
Pirtle has been appointed by Commissioner Steve Bauer as the District 1
Liaison. She replaces Anne Blair, who retired from the position last
December.
Pirtle
will work closely with citizen advisory councils in
Kingston, Hansville and Suquamish and other community groups to
help move forward the many projects ongoing in North
Kitsap.
“I have
always been impressed with Rebecca’s knowledge of the many ongoing projects
in the North End and her familiarity with the people making positive things
happen here,” Bauer said. “She will be a great asset to the county and
provide support and a direct line of communication between me and my
constituents.”
Pirtle was previously
editor of the Kingston Community News and Kingston View, and interim editor
of the North Kitsap Herald. While in those positions, she gained extensive
knowledge of the people, projects and history of North
Kitsap, and created relationships with numerous community
organizations. She also served on the Kingston Village Green Stewardship
Committee and board of the Friends of Point No Point.
“In the last several
years, I’ve worked hard to get to know and earn the trust of community
groups in the North End, and met so many amazing and active individuals who
work with such passion to improve the quality of life here,” Pirtle said.
“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to continue working closely with them
and serve as their liaison to Commissioner Bauer and Kitsap
County.”
Pirtle has worked for the King County Arts Commission, Northwest Folklife
and many other non-profit organizations the last 20 years and has been a
resident of North Kitsap
for 10 years.
