Shuttle service from Kitsap Mall to the County fair
announced
(Port Orchard, WA) – Kitsap County is partnering with the
Bremerton School District to provide free shuttle service from Kitsap Mall
during this year's County Fair & Stampede. Two buses will run from the north
parking lot at Kitsap Mall to the Kitsap Sun Pavilion on the fairgrounds.
Participants should park in the parking lot near the Kohl's store.
In 2009 Kitsap Transit's Board of Directors eliminated all special bus
service, including the shuttles they previously provided for the Fair &
Stampede. "We know Kitsap Transit faces the same budget challenges many
agencies are facing, and must cut services to meet those challenges," said
Charlotte Garrido, Kitsap County Board of Commissioner Chair. "Our Fair
volunteers got creative and came up with a terrific solution. Partnering
with the School District provides a huge benefit to residents attending the
fair by continuing the well-used and much appreciated shuttles, and helps
keep traffic manageable," said Garrido.
The shuttles run on a set schedule as shown below. The busses also run
through the parking areas to transport residents attending the fair from the
parking areas to the fairgrounds. Kitsap Transit does have a regular route
(#37) that is available during the regular schedule for that run. Route #13
runs down Central Valley Road near the fairgrounds and can also be used by
residents attending the fair who want to avoid parking challenges at the
Fair. Check the links below for specific schedules.
"We think this is a great solution to the current challenges and encourage
everyone to Kick it Up at this year's Fair & Stampede," said Garrido.
