Current Projects UpdateCentral Kitsap Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project This project will replace undersized, aging intake equipment at the
Central Kitsap Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is located on the
Brownsville Hwy., outside of the Keyport Naval Base. The upgrades will also
bring the plant into compliance with WAC 173-308-205, which will start
requiring, by 2012, the removal of inert material (mainly plastics) of a
certain size from the wastewater stream. Kingston Water Reclamation Study A feasibility study for using reclaimed wastewater from the Kingston Wastewater Treatment Plant was completed in late 2010. The preferred proposal would be to discharge the reclaimed water into the existing wetlands near the site and let water drain naturally into Grover's Creek. The County is coordinating with the Suquamish Tribe to verify interest in using this water to enhance stream flow in the creek, benefitting the fisheries operation downstream.
