The Road Report for the week of 
October 13 - 17, 2008

This Road Report information is provided as a public service and includes major construction and maintenance activities that delay or detour traffic on County-maintained roads. Listings may change without notice due to weather delays, equipment problems, and unforeseen circumstance. Check this page often for the latest information. Please observe all posted signs and detours. Use extreme caution when traveling through construction zones.

South Kitsap Area

minimal delays to 5 minutesLake Flora Road, between Glenwood Road and Square Lake Road, has minimal delays Monday through Friday. County crews are prepping and paving the shoulder.  Flaggers assist traffic when necessary.

minimal delays to 5 minutesHorizon Lane, from Mullenix Road to the end, has minimal delays Monday through Friday. County crews are crack sealing the pavement.  Flaggers assist traffic when necessary.

minimal delays to 5 minutesSidney Avenue, from Lider Road to Lakeway Blvd., has minimal delays Monday through Friday. County crews are performing shoulder maintenance.  Flaggers assist traffic when necessary.

minimal delays to 5 minutesOld Clifton Road, just south of McCormick Woods Drive, has intermittent minimal delays through October. Haus Brothers Construction is working on the guardrail, paving, and performing miscellaneous road tasks for Quadrant Homes. Flaggers assist traffic when necessary.

This work includes road approach work, storm system and ditch restoration, shoulder maintenance, sweeping, overhead brushing, road crack seal application, vegetation management and other maintenance  activities. Use caution when passing roadside workers.

Central Kitsap Area

The road is closedIllahee Road, between Varsity and California, is closed. This project replaces the roadway and culvert that was washed out during the December 2007 storm. Construction started on August 18, 2008. A new fish passage friendly 10-foot diameter culvert has been installed, streambed material has been added, and backfill for the roadway embankment has been constructed. The project is nearing completion. Installation of utilities is currently underway, asphalt paving is scheduled for the week of October 13th, followed by guardrail installation, and paint striping for roadway channelization. The roadway will be opened to traffic when all work is complete, which, pending any weather delays, is scheduled for October 31, 2008.

The road is closedTracyton Boulevard, 150 feet south of Barker Creek Road, is closed and remains closed through October 28. McDonald & Company, Inc. from Enumclaw, WA begins on a major project replacing the 90-foot long, 5-foot diameter culvert that runs under the road there September 2nd. The culvert is being replaced with a 73-foot long, 36-foot wide arched bottomless culvert to enhance fish passage on Barker Creek.
The work is a private project funded by Mid Puget Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group

minimal delays to 5 minutesSilverdale Way, at the intersection of Anderson Hill Road, has minimal delays through October. Seton Construction is working on the traffic signal system and pedestrian improvements. Crews are setting the traffic signal poles, installing hardware, energizing the signal, striping the roadway and cleaning up the site Flaggers assist traffic when necessary.

This project includes four 12' lanes, a 14' median strip, 5' bike lanes, 6' sidewalks separated by a 6' planting strip, and constructions of a stormwater conveyance system by Woodworth & Company, Inc. at a cost of $5,670,038. Work began on July 7 and lasts 240 working days  Work will be suspended during the winter months. Traffic delays are minimal if any.

North Kitsap Area

minimal delays up to 5 minutesHansville Road, Between Ecology Road and Gust Halvor Road, has minimal delays Monday through Wednesday and Tuesday.  County crews are repairing shoulders. Flaggers assist motorists through the work area as needed.

minimal delays up to 5 minutesMiller Bay Road, from Gunderson Road to Indianola Road, has minimal delays Monday through Friday.  County crews are maintaining the slope. Flaggers assist motorists through the work area as needed.
