Transportation Improvement Program
Call for Projects

What is the Transportation Project Selection Process?
Each year Kitsap County Public Works Department completes a Transportation Project Selection Process. This is the way transportation and roadway projects are selected to be included in the County’s 6-year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Projects that are placed into the process are scored and ranked using objective criteria. These criteria include safety and/or capacity needs, structural condition, availability of funding and timing of the funding, especially for State and Federally funded programs.

What types of projects are considered? Almost anything transportation related is considered, but here are a few ideas:

  • Roadway Resurface or Repair
  • Road Expansion / Capacity Improvements
  • New Road Construction (Making better connections)
  • Traffic Safety Issues (Accident reduction / prevention)
  • Traffic Operations (Ideas that help traffic flow better)
  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements
  • Environmental Enhancements

The project selection process and TIP update happens only once each year. This years deadline for comments was April 15th 2008.  Find out more information about transportation improvements by getting involved with the
Transportation Planning Advisory Committee  (TPAC)
