Kitsap County Students Invited To Join Poster Contest

(Port Orchard) – Kitsap County encourages all students in public, private or home schools grades K-8 to enter the America Recycles Day Poster Contest. Thirteen grade-level winners and 7 honorable mention winners are showcased each year in a full color calendar, developed by Kitsap County Public Works to celebrate recycling and choosing recycled products as a way to conserve resources.

“Each year we get about 400 entries,” said Pat Campbell, the local America Recycles Day coordinator.  “It’s always a difficult decision to select the winning posters,” she said, adding, “The real value of this contest is that students realize the importance of their individual actions. Each of us can make such a difference in conserving resources and energy by recycling and choosing recycled-content products.”

All entries must be drawn horizontally on 8.5 x 11 inch paper and cannot have the student’s name on the front.
Each entry must include a release form that can be found at www.kitsapgov.com/sw
Entries must be received no later than 4:00 p.m., October 19.

Students should mail entries to America Recycles Day Poster Contest, 614 Division St. MS- 27, Port Orchard, 98366. Drop-off delivery is available at the Kitsap County Public Works Annex at 8600 SW Imperial Way in the Olympic View Industrial Park across Hwy. 3 from the Bremerton National Airport.
