About Us
Kitsap County Aging and Long-Term Care (ALTC)
is a division of Kitsap County government and is the state-designated Area
Agency on Aging (AAA) for Kitsap County. ALTC provides services in the home and
throughout the community for seniors and adults with disabilities to help them
remain living in their own homes. Case Management staff assesses and authorizes
services for people receiving Medicaid funded in-home care services in Kitsap
County. Information and Assistance staff offers free help to individuals and
organizations with locating and accessing services and programs for
seniors 60 years of age and older and those who are family caregivers. Our goal is to offer
quality services emphasizing independence and dignity.
The Division's administrative staff is responsible for fiscal and contract
management, program and system planning and coordination, and thereby ensuring
access to available services. Kitsap ALTC directly operates:
ALTC also contracts for a variety of services throughout
the county. In addition, ALTC staff and Advisory Council members
advocate for an effective system of long-term care services, collaborating with
policy makers and other social service agencies.

Kitsap ALTC is a division of the Department of Personnel and
Human Services of Kitsap County Government, with the Board of County
Commissioners serving as the recognized Area Agency on Aging for Planning and
Service Area (PSA) 13 of Washington State. Kitsap ALTC was created through the
collaborative action of citizens, aging network service providers and the Kitsap
Board of County Commissioners in 1980. Prior to 1980, Kitsap County was included
as part of the Pierce County Area Agency on Aging. The Kitsap ALTC Advisory
Council, with representation by citizens from all three Commissioner districts,
makes recommendations as to programs and services to the Kitsap ALTC. The
agency operates two offices in the county: the primary office located in the
Givens Community Center in Port Orchard, and the
Family Caregiver Support Center
located in the Silverdale Community Center in Silverdale.

Kitsap ALTC purchases services from private and public agencies
and arranges for service delivery for individuals who meet eligibility
requirements. Kitsap ALTC utilizes a variety of state, federal and local
funding sources including the Federal Older Americans Act, Medicaid, Respite,
the National and State Family Caregiver Support Program, the State Senior Citizens Services Act
and individual and community donations.
