Press Release
April 2004

PERSONAL PROPERTY FILING DEADLINE APRIL 30 - Business owners must file their personal property reports with the Kitsap County Assessor by April 30 to avoid penalty. This is an annual requirement. The Assessor uses the filing to update account records of equipment, leasehold improvements, spare parts, and supplies used for business purposes on January 1st of each year.

After receipt, the Assessor will send the property owner a notice of value. This will be the basis for property taxes in 2005.

In January, the Assessor mailed 3,379 asset listings with a change report form to known businesses. However, property owners must file even if no listing was received. Failure to file will result in a monetary penalty.

For more information, visit http://www.kitsapgov.com/assr/per_prop.htm or call 360-337-7160.
