Here at the Auditor’s Office our goal is to continually improve customer service delivery. Since 2013, we have implemented numerous process improvements that are increasing efficiency, and providing more options and better services. I hope you appreciate the recent improvements in our Financial Services Division, and I welcome your feedback at auditor@co.kitsap.wa.us.

Financial Services
In April we launched a new procedure for issuing warrants (payment checks) to our internal departments. The new procedure allows for daily processing of vouchers (check requests). Previously vouchers were processed weekly. As a result, we are seeing a reduction in errors, and a significant reduction in processing time. We are also working with our vendors on a program that will allow us to utilize direct deposits on all payments. Direct deposit is a much more efficient and cost effective process for paying vendors compared to cutting paper checks.

We recently published our Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; and the Popular Annual Financial Report for 2013. They are available on our website.

Recording
The warm summer months are our busy season for issuing marriage licenses. If you are planning your wedding this summer, keep in mind there is a three-day waiting period after issuing the marriage license where applicants may not get married. We continue to grow our e-Recording service which allows the public to record documents electronically, eliminating the need to manually scan, label and index certain information. For the month of June, e-Recordings increased by more than 20 percent compared to June 2013.

Licensing
Don’t wait until the end of the month to renew your vehicle tabs. Tabs expire on the date listed on the vehicle registration, not at the end of the month. Save a trip to your local licensing agency with Licensing Plus, a fast, easy way to manage your driver’s license and all of your vehicle, trailer and boat licenses in one secure online service. You can sign up for License Express on the Department of Licensing’s website at www.dol.wa.gov.
