Voter Registration

Register to Vote

To register to vote in Washington, you must be:

  A citizen of the United States
  A legal resident of the state of Washington
  At least 18 years old by election day
  Not presently denied voting rights due to a felony conviction

In Washington, you do not have to register by political party to vote in the state's regular primaries or general elections.

  Registration forms are available at City Halls, Libraries, Schools, Fire
   Stations, and most state and federal agencies
 
Registration Deadlines for Elections

Individuals must register at least 30 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote in that election.  If registering by mail the application must be postmarked by the 30-day cutoff or it will not become effective until after the election.

Individuals who were have never registered before or are from another state may have an additional 15 days to register prior to the election by appearing in person at the Kitsap County Auditor-Elections Office.
 

Moving or Changing Your Name


If you have moved within Kitsap County, you can call us at 360.337.7128 to report your new address.  Complete a
Voter Registration Form, or write or FAX us the following information:

  Registered name
  Date of birth
  Residence address
  Prior address/new address
  Mailing address (if different)
  Daytime and evening phone number

If you have moved between counties within Washington State, you must complete a Voter Registration Form

If you have a name change, you can complete a Voter Registration Form.
 

Canceling a Registration

To be removed from the registration files, print and sign a
cancellation form.

If a voter is deceased, another registered voter may fill out a death card to cancel the registration.  Contact our office and a form will be mailed for you to complete.
 
Restoring Voting Rights

Under Washington State law, if you are convicted of a felony, you lose your right to vote.  To restore that right, you must meet all sentencing obligations.
