Voter Registration

Register to Vote

To register to vote in Washington, you must be:

Arrow Bullet  A citizen of the United States
Arrow Bullet  A legal resident of the state of Washington
Arrow Bullet  At least 18 years old by election day
Arrow Bullet  Not presently denied voting rights due to a felony conviction

In Washington, you do not have to register by political party to vote in the state's regular primaries or general elections.

Registration Deadlines for Elections

Individuals must register at least 29 days prior to an election to be eligible to vote in that election.  If registering by mail the application must be postmarked by the 29-day cutoff or it will not become effective until after the election.

Individuals who were have never registered before or are from another state may register up to 8 days prior to the election by appearing in person at the Kitsap County Auditor-Elections Office.
 

Moving or Changing Your Name


If you have moved within Kitsap County, you can call us at 360.337.7128 to report your new address or complete a Voter Registration Form.  You may also write or FAX us the following information:

Arrow Bullet  Mailing address (if different)
Arrow Bullet  Daytime and evening phone numbers

If you have moved between counties within Washington State or changed you name, you must complete a new Voter Registration Form.
 

Canceling a Registration

To be removed from the registration files, print and sign a cancellation form.

If a voter is deceased, another registered voter may fill out a death card to cancel the registration.  Contact our office and a form will be mailed for you to complete.
 
Restoring Voting Rights

Under Washington State law, if you are convicted of a felony, you lose your right to vote.  To restore that right, you must meet all sentencing obligations.
