Talking shop in Kingston: Local business roundtable Aug. 2

Members of the Kingston business community will join in a roundtable discussion to talk about their experiences and challenges during the Kingston Citizens Advisory Council meeting, which takes place 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 in the Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Road, Kingston. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the local business community.

Colleen Carey, executive director of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and Dave Wetter, representing the Kingston Stakeholders, will moderate an informal discussion with business owners including Cameron Fletcher, who recently purchased the old Kingston Lumber site; Micki Monroe of d’Vine Wines; Amy Anderson of Cup & Muffin; Johnny Walker of Almost Candid; Paul Barrett of West Side Pizza and Lisa Maxwell of Little City Candy Company.

  • Kitsap County Commissioner Rob Gelder and Sheriff Gary Simpson will be the featured guests at the Sept. 6 meeting of KCAC, joining in a town hall-style meeting to talk about plans in the greater Kingston area and take questions from the public.

  • On Sept. 21, KCAC hosts its annual community Open House featuring 60 local organizations and county departments from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Village Green Community Center – save the date!

  • At the Oct. 4 KCAC meeting, the North Kitsap School District’s Community Partnership Committee will lead a conversation about how today’s educational system’s basic design has not changed much since its inception though the world has changed a lot.

  • The Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management will provide a presentation at the Nov. 1 KCAC meeting. Meetings take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Village Green Community Center.

 The public is welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings!

General Information

 The Kingston Citizens Advisory Council provides a discussion forum for community interests and issues. The Council enhances communication between Kingston-area residents and Kitsap County government, and coordinates efforts of the many council and community residents working to improve the Kingston community. KCAC members represent Kingston’s broad interests, and work together to proactively address community interests and concerns.

7-8:30 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month, except for January and July. Meetings take place at the

Function and Purpose

This body represents the broad interests of the Kingston Community and is a focus of discussion for the many community organizations. The council gives the residents of Kingston an avenue for more input and better communication with the Board of County Commissioners and County Staff.
