Central Puget Sound Economic Development District

Function/Purpose
The Central Puget Sound Economic Development District (CPSEDD) is the federally designated economic development district for the central Puget Sound region covering King, Pierce Snohomish Kitsap counties.  The CPSEDD is responsible for economic development planning in the region and collaborates with various private and public sector agencies to accomplish it's goals.  A multi-jurisdictional agency, the CPSEDD brings together the private and public sectors in a partnership necessary to provide a coordinated strategy and an ongoing economic development program for the region.  A core function of the CPSEDD is to prepare each year the "Overall Economic Development Plan" (OEDP) for the central Puget Sound region.  The OEDP is a resource document providing useful information to elected officials, economic development professionals and private sector leaders to assist them to formulate and implement a continuing economic development program for the region.  It also helps maintain this region's eligibility for the federal support of local economic development activities.  The document contains information concerning the region and its economy.  It sets forth the District's goals, strategies and project priorities for the coming year and outlines activities designed to create jobs, raise income levels, foster a stable and diversified economy and improve living conditions in the region.

Established
The District was established in June of 1971 under Federal legislation by a formal Joint Powers Agreement between King, Pierce, Snohomish and Kitsap Counties.

Meeting Time and Location
