Christene "Chris" G. Endresen
Kitsap County Commissioner, District 1

Chris Endresen began her third term as Kitsap County Commissioner in
January 2005. Chris works diligently to keep Kitsap County a livable community with a high quality of life and an environment to match, and has been working to achieve these ideals for over a decade.

An advocate for good government, Chris is well respected locally and
nationally for her ability to collaborate with cities, state agencies, tribal
governments and citizens to bring creative solutions to complex issues.
Among her many accomplishments, she is most proud of her benchmarking
work in open space and sustainable communities.

As an experienced legislator, Chris represents the county on important state and local boards, including the boards of directors for the Puget Sound and Kitsap Regional Coordinating Councils, the Kitsap County Board of Health, Kitsap Transit, Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, and Hood Canal Coordinating Council.

A committed supporter of local government, Chris was elected Vice-President of the Washington State Association of Counties in 2006 and represents Washington on the National Association of Counties Board of Directors.

Chris believes in community and its power to influence the quality of life. She brought these philosophies to her service on the Poulsbo Planning Commission and as a board member for Kitsap County Land Trust and the Friends of Open Space. Her reputation in the North Kitsap community led to three consecutive elections and a decade of service on the Poulsbo City Council (1985 to 1995).

Her awards include the Warren G. Magnuson “Elected Official of the Year (2006), Kitsap County Council for Human Rights “Wall of Fame Award (2002)” and in the YWCA’s distinguished “Women of Achievement Award (2003).”

Chris lives in Poulsbo with her husband Rick and son Quinn. Her daughter Jessica is a Sophomore at Washington State University. Chris worked in the private sector for a total of twenty years prior to entering public service. She holds a Master of Public Administration from the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington.
