Patty Lent was sworn-in as District #3 County Commissioner on Dec. 30, 2002. Patty is currently vice chair of the Kitsap County Board of Health and vice chair of the Kitsap Transit Board. Topping her agenda, Patty works to control government spending, promote job development, relieve traffic congestion, provide affordable housing, and protect natural resources and individual rights. Patty is committed to putting discussion before decision to ensure every voice is heard.

Patty has a broad business background, specializing in corporate travel and convention sales. During her travel career, she owned and operated travel agencies in Seattle and Fife. Since moving to Kitsap County, she has worked independently as a travel consultant and contractor. Her prior business experience includes work as: a certified mortgage banker; a director of sales for the Holiday Inn corporation; and as public relations spokesperson for Western Airlines. She also shared her business acumen with students as a part time professor at Edmonds Community College and as a national travel industry lobbyist.

In Kitsap County for the last 15 years, Patty routinely finds time to participate in civic organizations. Patty is a board member of the Bremerton Central Lions, and in 1988 was honored as the first female Kiwanis Club president in the United States. She is past president of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Zumwalt Guild, and a former director of the Navy League of the United States, Bremerton-Olympic Peninsula Council. She served as an advisor to the National Program of High School Business Education and as a volunteer for the Boys and Girls Club of American, the Parent Teacher Association, and for Boy Scouts of America.

Patty and her husband Doug Lent have a blended family of five children and eight grandchildren. For 30 years, Doug has owned Doug Lent Inc. a Kitsap county-based mechanical contracting business. His grandfather founded the first LENTS’ Inc. in 1907 and his father and uncle operated for over 66 years.

Patty is a native of Tacoma.
