Thank you for
visiting the Courthouse Facilitators' website. The Courthouse Facilitators
assist pro
se litigants (persons who are not represented by attorneys) in Domestic
Relations cases in selecting and reviewing forms, and with procedural
instructions. The Facilitators are available primarily by
appointment, with limited walk-in visits resuming in 2012.
Domestic Relations cases include: Dissolution, Legal
Separation, or Invalidity of Marriage; Dissolution, Legal Separation, or Invalidity
of a Registered Domestic Partnership; Paternity/Parentage; Establishing a Parenting Plan
and/or Child Support with a Birth Affidavit; Non-Parent Custody; Modification of
Parenting Plan; and Modification of Child Support. The Facilitators can
also assist with motions for temporary orders or contempt motions in domestic
relations cases.
The Facilitators Can:
- Explain the process if a party has to go to court
- Identify and
help locate forms for domestic relations cases
- Help a party schedule court hearings
- Check paperwork before a party goes to court
- Help arrange for an interpreter for court appearance
- Refer to other agencies for extra help parties may need
- Compute child support per your income figures
The Facilitators Cannot:
- Give legal advice
- Represent a party in court
- Fill out forms for the party
- Tell the party what to say
- Provide assistance with Criminal, Adoption, Wills/Probate, Guardianship,
Landlord-Tenant/Eviction, Bankruptcy, or other Civil cases
APPOINTMENTS -
Fee: $25.00 (cash or money order only)
Meet
one-on–one with a facilitator to review paperwork, schedule court dates, get
answers to procedural questions, and/or have child support calculated. Each
appointment is 40 minutes. Appointments must be paid for and scheduled in
advance through the Kitsap County Clerk’s Office. To schedule an appointment, call

Prepare for your appointment by filling out the forms you
want to review with a facilitator. The facilitator will review the documents with
you and let you know if they are filled out properly. The facilitators cannot
give you substantive legal advice, only procedural advice. The facilitators
cannot act as your attorney.
On the day of your appointment, bring copies of any
existing court documents with you and any new forms that you have filled out.
If you need a facilitator to calculate child support, also bring a completed
Child Support Data Form* or proof of income for both parties with you.

WALK-IN VISITS -
Fee: $25.00 (cash or money order
only)
Walk-in visits will resume on 01/03/2012, with the following changes:

Walk-in
visitors will be seen on Tuesday mornings and Thursday mornings only.
·
Walk-in
visits are limited in length (25 minutes) and in number (a maximum of 5 walk-in
visits will be available each Tuesday and Thursday morning, depending on
Facilitator availability).
·
Walk-in
visits are only sold for same-day use on a first-come, first-served basis.
The fee for
each walk-in visit is $25.00 cash or money order only.
A reduced fee is not available for walk-in visits.
The $25.00 fee must be paid in person at the Clerk’s Office, where your
walk-in time will be determined.
Walk-in visits cannot be rescheduled, and the fee will
not be refunded if you cancel or fail
to appear for your walk-in visit.
On the day of
