Duties

Kitsap County District Court has criminal jurisdiction over misdemeanors and gross misdemeanor crimes, traffic infractions, criminal traffic and other non-traffic infractions. Court sites are located in Port Orchard, Poulsbo and Silverdale.

The Civil Division processes small claims in amounts up to $4,000, civil actions up to $50,000 and has jurisdiction over unlawful harassment petitions as well as name changes.

All criminal and traffic infraction matters are filed in this court from the Washington State Patrol, the Kitsap County Sheriff, the County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Department of Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, Humane Society, State and County Parks, Liquor Control Board and Kitsap County Community Development and Health Departments.
