Land Use Permits
Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) and Accessory Living Quarters (ALQ)
An ADU or an ALQ is an additional residence located on the same lot as an owner-occupied dwelling.  ADUs and ALQs may require additional review through a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) or Administrative Conditional Use Permit (ACUP), in addition to a building permit.  Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 17 ‘Zoning’, 17.381.040, 17.381.060.B.3, 17.381.060.B.4
Conditional Use Permit (CUP)/Administrative Conditional Use Permit (ACUP)
CUP or ACUP is a type of application where the Department requires conditions to ensure new uses or developments are compatible with surrounding properties, and which achieve the intent of the County’s comprehensive plan. Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 17 ‘Zoning’, 17.421 ‘Hearing Examiner Conditional Use Permit’, 17.420 ‘Administrative Conditional Use Permit’
Revision to Conditional Use Permit (CUP)/Administrative Conditional Use Permit (ACUP)
CUP Revision or ACUP Revision is an application to revise conditions previously approved in an approved CUP or ACUP.  The Department may require new conditions to ensure revised uses or developments are compatible with surrounding properties, and which achieve the intent of the County's Comprehensive Plan.  Revisions to CUPs and ACUPs are found in Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 17 'Zoning', 17.421 "Hearing Examiner Conditional Use Permit', and 17.420 'Administrative Conditional Use Permit'.
Performance Based Development (PBD)/Revision to Approved PBD
PBD is a type of development application where the Department allows flexibility in design and creative site planning. Regulations that can be modified through the use of a PBD are limited to lot size, lot width and depth, structure height (within urban growth areas) and setbacks—any of which must achieve the intent of the County’s comprehensive plan. PBDs are discussed in Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 17 ‘Zoning’, and 17.425 ‘Performance Based Development’.
Home Business
"Home Business" permits allow certain business uses in residential zones if they are ancillary and secondary to the primary residential use. Kitsap County Code (KCC) Title 17 ‘Zoning’,  17.110.345, 17.381.040, 17.381.060.B.1
