East Kitsap Nearshore Salmon Habitat Assessment


The Salmon Recovery Funding Board granted funding for an important biological study to be conducted along the 155 miles of the east marine shoreline of Kitsap County . Teams of up to four scientists collected data by walking along the east Kitsap shoreline from May-October 2007 with a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit and digital camera. A boat will be used for areas where walking is not practical. Battelle Northwest National Laboratories ( Sequim , WA ) is currently analyzing the data for the habitat assessment of the shoreline. This is expected to be completed late 2008.
