This data set was developed to help determine the impacts of overhanging structures, by inventoring the type and piling material used in their construction.
This data was developed as part of the GPS field inventory for the Kitsap County Nearshore Inventory Program for East Kitsap during the summer of 2007.

Kitsap County Nearshore Inventory Program
Field data collection was accomplished with a Trimble GeoXM field data collector. This model is stated to provide 1 to 3 meter accuracy when the PDOP (Position dilution of precision) value is below 6, with a minimum of 4 satellites in view, above 15 degrees of the horizon. Varying by feature type, 4% - 13% of the data collected fell outside of this PDOP range. During data collection, a wide variety of conditions are encountered that can block the signal for short periods, or reduce the number of satellites found. These conditions include steep slopes along the shore, heavy forested shorelines, and tall urban development.
Inventory data was collected in the field between May 17, 2007 and August 27, 2007. Project area consisted of East Kitsap County shorelines, from Burley Lagoon in the South, to FoulWeather Bluff in the north. Data collection was accomplished with a Trimble GeoXM GPS data collector, and a field crew of two. Daily downloads of collected data occurred using Trimble's Pathfinder Office 3.10 software
