July 21, 2009 Planning Commission Meeting

Time:       9:00 am Location: Kitsap Fairgrounds & Events Center - Eagle’s Nest                 1200 NW Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton The Planning Commission will meet all day on July 21, 2009, beginning with legislative activities and concluding with site visits and touring. All members of the public are welcome to attend any portion of the day's activities. We anticipate having a minimum of two 9-passenger vans available for the PC and public to travel together. The Planning Commission meeting will begin at 9 am at Kitsap Fairgrounds & Events Center - Eagle’s Nest and will include a Site Specific Comprehensive Plan Amendments briefing, Rural Commercial and Rural Industrial work-study, and a public hearing for Title 21 - Mediation. At 12:30 pm there will be a walking tour of downtown Kingston for the Kingston Master Plan process. Participants and members of the public will need to be at the North Kitsap Fire and Rescue at 12:30 pm. The tour is expected to conclude by 2:30 pm. At 3 pm, there will be a driving tour of Hansville. Participants and members of the public will need to be at the Hansville General Store at 3 pm. The tour is expected to conclude by 5 pm.

About the Kitsap County Planning Commission

The Kitsap County Planning Commission is an advisory body that shall “assist the planning department in carrying out its duties, including assistance in the preparation and execution of the comprehensive plan and recommendations to the planning department for the adoption of official controls and/or amendments thereto” (RCW 36.070.040; Kitsap County Resolution 60-1961, Sec 2), and which acts as the research and fact finding agency of the County. 

Further, the Planning Commission will conduct hearings “and shall make findings of fact and conclusions there from which shall be transmitted to the Department which shall transmit the same to the board with such comments and recommendations it deems necessary”
(KC Resolution 60-1961, Sec 3).

Kitsap County Planning Commission's regularly scheduled public hearings or work study sessions are held on the first and third Tuesday of every month. These meetings are held at the
Kitsap County Administration Building, Commissioner's Chambers, 619 Division Street Port Orchard, WA 98366. The Planning Commission also holds public hearings and study sessions at other times and locations as needed.
