Data Availability News Items

Update News (6/23/08)

An updated version of the street center lines has been posted. The features and their attributes have been cleaned up substantially. Some obsolete columns were dropped and new ones added. Please review the metadata for a greater description of the changes.

Update News (12/21/07)

The Keyport LAMIRD, as approved by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners on November 19, 2006, is now available in the updated planning shape files. For more complete information on the changes and implementation please check the official website for the 10 Year Review and Update of the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan.

Update News (12/22/06)

The updated comprehensive plan, zoning designations, and urban growth areas approved by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners on December 11, 2006 are now available for download from the Regulatory Layers section. For more complete information on the changes and implementation please check the official website for the 10 Year Review and Update of the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan.

Update News (10/24/06)

Building footprints are now available for download in the Parcel Base Map Layers section. While we have a long-term strategy for integrating them more completely into Kitsap County's Enterprise Geodatabase, at this stage they are implemented as simple polygon features providing end users with a visualization tool.

Update News (7/17/06)

The Elections dataset has been renamed to Districts and the feature classes are now maintained by an internal process. As a result, this dataset is now exported on to the ftp site on a daily basis.

Update News (8/4/05)

LiDAR generated contour lines are available from the FTP site tiled by USGS quarter-quadrants in both AutoCAD drawing format and as ESRI Shape files.

The 2001 Digital Airborne Image Survey (DAIS) is also available in a series of tiled images in addition to the single composite image.

As an alternative to using the ftp site directly, DCD has provided an access point for downloading the LiDAR contours and DAIS imagery.

Update News (2/1/05)

Due to a pending redesign, LiDAR generated contour lines have been temporarily removed from the FTP site.

Update News (11/17/04)

LiDAR generated contour lines are now available for download. The contours have been broken out by detail level (200-foot, 100-foot, 50-foot, 20-foot, 10-foot, & 5-foot) and shape file size for easier downloading.

Update News (10/14/04)

The feature classes in the Parcel dataset (except for site address points) and the Land Information System (LIS) tables (except for legals) are now being updated on a daily basis.

Please note that the automated process for generating and uploading the Parcel and LIS Table datasets does not create ArcView 3.x attribute indexes (aih/ain files). It will be up to the individual users of these datasets to create the indexes, typically on the RP_ACCT_ID column, themselves.

Update News (6/17/04)

The feature classes in the Parcel dataset (except for site address points) are now being updated on a daily basis. The Land Information System (LIS) tables are soon to follow.

Update News (1/12/04)

Due to concerns about copyright issues, some of the data previously provided here that was created and/or owned by outside agencies has been removed. These include:

  • FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM)
  • KPUD's Principal Aquifers, Aquifer Vulneriability, Wellhead Travel Zones, & Well Sites
  • WA DNR Hydrology & Minerals
  • U.S. Fish & Wildlife's National Wetland Inventory
  • Natural Resources Conservation Service Soils

You can follow the links provided here or contact the originating agency for questions. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Update News (8/1/03)

Our data is in a transitional state right now. This is a result of the implementation of the new Land Information System (LIS) and the adjustment of the inaccurate tax parcel areas to better fit the 2001 Space Imaging image of the County. The accurate parcels have not been adjusted to this image. This is a high item on our priority list of projects to complete and we will be updating feature layers as they are ready. We greatly appreciate your patience in bearing with us. If you have any comments or suggestions, please send them to the GIS Manager.
