The Kitsap Recovery Center

The Kitsap Recovery Center, located in East Bremerton, provides both in-patient and outpatient substance abuse treatment services.  KRC is state-approved and utilizes the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) treatment criteria.

The facility houses 37 inpatient treatment beds and 6 detoxification beds. Employees include treatment staff, administrative support staff and two private consultants contracted to provide medical and dietary advice and assistance.

Services include

  • inpatient treatment program (up to 30 days);
  • sub-acute detoxification services (up to 5 days)
  • Alcohol and Drug Addictions Treatment and Support Services (ADATSA) assessment and referrals (state-sponsored treatment)
  • case management services
  • outpatient chemical dependency treatment
  • pregnant/post-partum women outreach services
  • involuntary commitment services
  • programs for family members of in-patient clients
  • DSHS-referred assessments
  • adult drug court treatment services
  • information and referrals.

Annually, approximately 2,000 adult men and women receive chemical dependency treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction. KRC serves primarily low-income and Medicaid-eligible clients.  It also accepts clients with private insurance and provides information, education and referrals to all county residents.

The Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) directly funds intensive inpatient treatment.  A separate contract with DSHS provides funding for most other Recovery Center services administered by the Human Services Division.  Drug court services are funded through a federal grant.

The County contributes funds from real estate excise tax revenues to offset mortgage and other facility expenses.
