FUNCTION/PURPOSE

Kitsap County created the Substance Abuse Advisory Board pursuant to the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 70.96A.300.

 

The Board reviews all service plans, applications for funding, and expenditure budgets.  The Board also makes recommendations regarding substance abuse treatment and prevention programs funded through Kitsap County.

Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a therapeutic technique designed to engage ambivalent or resistant consumers in the process of change. 

NUMBER OF MEMBERS/APPOINTMENT TERMS:

Up to nine (9) members are appointed by the County Commissioners to serve three-year terms.  Members are representative of the community and are chosen to serve on the Board for their demonstrated concern for alcoholism and other drug addiction problems.  The RCW requires one quarter of the Board's membership to be recovered addicts.  It must also include minority group representation.
