VETERANS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

(Veterans Advisory Board)

flag ABOUT US
Kitsap County is proud of its citizens who have served our country. The county is dedicated to providing information and assistance to our veterans who are residents, especially those in need.

The county provides three direct services to veterans:

  • temporary emergency assistance
  • informational e-mail listserv
  • veterans preference for county contracts
assistance APPLYING FOR TEMPORARY EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Kitsap County Department of Personnel and Human Services administers the Veterans Assistance Fund (formerly known as the Soldiers and Sailors or Relief Fund) for veterans in need. The money comes from a small portion of property taxes and is dedicated to providing assistance to veterans and their families.

Every county in Washington state has a veterans assistance fund under the auspices of Chapter 73.08, Revised Code of Washington. Veteran is defined under RCW 41.04.005 and 41.04.007: PDF file.

The fund is guided by the Policy & Procedures Manual for Assisting Veterans in Need in Kitsap County which describes the variety of benefits and eligibility: Manual.
