VETERANS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

ABOUT US |
|
Kitsap County is proud of its citizens who have served our
country. The county is dedicated to providing information and
assistance to our veterans who are residents, especially those
in need.
The county provides four direct services to veterans:
- temporary emergency assistance
- informational e-mails (blind copied)
- co-produces spring and fall stand downs
- On Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, co-hosts The
Unforgotten, Run to Tahoma where the remains of
deceased veterans are escorted to Tahoma National Cemetery.

APPLYING FOR TEMPORARY EMERGENCY
ASSISTANCE |

Kitsap County Department of Personnel and Human Services
administers the Veterans Assistance Fund (formerly known as
the Soldiers and Sailors or Relief Fund) for veterans in
need. The money comes from a small portion of property taxes
and is dedicated to providing assistance to veterans and
their families.
Every county in Washington state has a veterans
assistance fund under the auspices of Chapter 73.08, Revised
Code of Washington. Click

The fund is guided by the Policy & Procedures Manual for
Assisting Veterans in Need in Kitsap County which describes
the variety of benefits and eligibility:

INFORMATIONAL E-MAILS |

The county veterans assistance program coordinator periodically
sends out blind copy e-mails about federal, state, and county
veteran benefit or issues. The list is blind copied to protect
