HIRING PROCESS

Kitsap County requires applicants to compete for positions. A combination of examinations are used in the selection process to determine which applicant best matches the position. Examinations include questionnaires, written tests, oral tests, performance tests, application, supplemental questionnaire, etc. An applicant must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.

Employment Opportunity Posting Sheet
For each position advertised, a Employment Opportunity Posting Sheet is provided. It is important that you review the sheet carefully to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications before completing the application packet and you have all documentation requested for each position.

Veteran's Preference
Pursuant to state law RCW 41.04.005 and RCW 41.04.010, special credit will be added to passing scores of qualified veterans on open examinations, when applicable.

Equal Opportunity Employer
Kitsap County is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from all persons without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability or veteran status including disabled veterans of the Vietnam Era. Kitsap County provides reasonable accommodation to its employees and the public with disabilities, including disabled veterans.

Submit Your Application
Effective application packet materials are complete, comply with the instructions on the job posting sheet, and are submitted by the published closing date. Remember, applications mailed after or postmarked after the closing date (unless postmarks are excepted for that specific position) will not be accepted or considered. Kitsap County will not consider application packets that are received with postage due. Some application packets may require additional postage.

Any misrepresentation, incomplete and/or inaccurate information may be cause for application rejection, removal from the employment list, and/or discharge from County employment.

Status of Your Application
You should be notified by mail within 6 - 8 weeks of the closing date of your application. If after that time period you have not received notification of your status, please contact the Human Resource Analyst identified on the job posting sheet.
