Home Arts Superintendent (Volunteer Position)
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide support to Kitsap County Fair & Stampede staff in procuring and working with home arts judges and displays, coordinating public participants and helping schedule volunteers.

JOB DUTIES:

• Procurement of and working with Judges prior to Fair opening;
• Intake of entries from the public;
• Department set-up during intake, judging, and display during Fair;
• Scheduling volunteer shifts during Fair hours;
• Working with Fair Board Still Life Director on entry and parking passes for volunteers, ribbons and awards, paperwork.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
: Should be a team player who enjoys home arts including quilts, clothing and textiles, needlework, knitting and crocheting. Should possess good communication skills, both oral and written and organizational skills.

This position offers the opportunity to engage with the public in home arts and be an integral part of the Kitsap County Fair. Volunteer will work as part of a dynamic team. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in event planning and production.

TIME COMMITMENT:
Start date: immediately, 5-10 hours per week, 20-30 during County Fair
Length of service: through end of Kitsap County Fair, August 20-24, 2014
Work schedule: flexible

Department Entry Dates & Times
  • Art Department: Saturday, August 9th and Sunday, August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Presidents’ Hall, Kitsap County Fairgrounds (1250 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).
  • Floriculture: Monday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m, in the Kitsap Sun Pavilion (1200 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).
  • Foods Department: Sunday, August 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Presidents’ Hall, Kitsap County Fairgrounds (1250 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).
  • Home Arts: Saturday, August 9th and Sunday, August 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Presidents’ Hall, Kitsap County Fairgrounds (1250 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).  
  • Horticulture: Monday, August 18th from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Presidents’ Hall, Kitsap County Fairgrounds (1250 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).
  • Photography: Saturday, August 9th and Sunday, August 10th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Presidents’ Hall, Kitsap County Fairgrounds (1250 NW Fairgrounds Rd, Bremerton).
  • Livestock: All exhibits in livestock departments of the Kitsap County Fair will be entered the following times only: Tuesday of Fair week between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. subject, however, to complying with the health requirements and veterinary inspection requirements as set forth herein. Deadline for LIVESTOCK entry form is July 15.
  • IMPORTANT: PICKUP YOUR ITEMS AT THE LOCATIONS ABOVE ON MONDAY AUGUST 25, 10 A.M. TO 6 P.M.
The Exhibitor fee is $10. You may enter multiple items for the single $10 fee. Additional fees, below may apply for Open Class Livestock entries. You receive a 5-day fair pass with your entry. All items must have contact information labeled on the actual items. Tags do not count. 4-H and FFA members may purchase a "Helper Pass" at time of entry. The "Helper Pass" is $10 and includes entry each day.

10 a.m. - 6 p.m.   Pick up all 4-H and Open Class still life exhibits at the Presidents' Hall and sign-up for State Fair contests. Pick up State Fair Entry Forms. After Monday, arrangements may be made to pick up the exhibits by appointment by calling the Extension Office at 337-7157.
  County and State Fair exhibits will be available for pick up until October 1st. After that date, exhibits will be destroyed.
