Newberry Hill Heritage Park Master Plan
(Nov. 2009 - May 2010)

WA DNR Meeting Regarding Reconveyance of 315 acres in 2011

On October 19, 2010, representatives from the WA Department of Natural Resources hosted an evening public meeting at Klahowya Secondary School. During the meeting DNR and County Parks staff discussed and received public comment about the proposed land reconveyance of 315 acres from DNR to Kitsap County Parks & Recreation.  This long-planned reconveyance would complete the Newberry Hill Heritage Park.  This is the same reconveyance that was discussed several times during the 2009-2010 Master Planning process [see below].  The reconveyance incurs no costs beyond staff costs related to the process of transferring ownership.  Click here for more information and to provide public comment at DNR's webpage.

Master Plan Meetings Nov 2009 - May 2010 (plan adopted June 2010)

Public workshops were held monthly November 2009 - May 2010 at Klahowya Secondary School.  Information from each workshop will be available to view below shortly after each meeting.

The last public workshop was April 13, 2010, 6 - 8 pm at Klahowya Secondary School.  The master plan was approved by the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board on April 21, 2010. The master plan will be put before the Board of County Commissioners for adoption in June 2010.
