Newberry Hill Heritage Park
Master Plan

  • The first public workshop to start the Newberry Hill Heritage Park Master Plan process was held Thursday, November 19, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klahowya Secondary School. The presentation from the November 19, 2009 Kickoff meeting can be viewed here.

    The next public workshop will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klahowya Secondary School.

Parks and Recreation 6-year Project Plan

  • The 2009-2014 6-year Parks and Recreation Capital Facility Plan consists of a textual narrative that describes current inventory and levels of service, as well as a six-year financing plan that, together, update and implement the Kitsap County Comprehensive Plan, especially the 2006 Parks and Open Space Comprehensive Plan.  Here is a graphic summarizing the status of all of our 2009 projects.

Norwegian Point Park

  • On April 29, 2008, a public workshop was held to present ideas on the Master Plan and to collect public input.

Master Plan

  • The Open Space portion of the Norwegian Point Park Master Plan was approved by the Parks Advisory Board at their June meeting held in Hansville.  The Open Space portion was subsequently confirmed by the Board of County Commissioners.

  • A public update for Norwegian Point Park was presented at the Parks Advisory Board meeting on November 19th at the Hansville Community Center.

  • Cultural Resources Report (Because the original report is quite large, it has been saved as 2 smaller segments for easy downloading.)

  • Historic Structures Report (Because the original report is quite large, it has been saved as 3 smaller segments for easy downloading.)

  • Please join the community discussion on the future of the Kingston Village Greens.  For more information, download the Update Flyer.

  • Options for Developing the Park at Kingston Village Greens presented at the public meeting on November 24, 2008.

    • On November 24, 2008, community members were invited to a public meeting to discuss options for developing the park at Kingston Village Greens.  This meeting was a follow up to the public site walk at 1:00 p.m. on November 12.  See the four (4) options, as well as the pros and cons and the ballpark cost estimates for each here.

  • The final Memorandum of Agreement between South Kitsap School District and Kitsap County has been completed.  The Memoranda of Agreement with WSU Extension and Kitsap Dog Parks, Inc are still being negotiated.
