Commissioners Seeking Council for Human Rights Applicants

PORT ORCHARD, WA
—If you live in Commissioner District #3 and are interested in serving your community as a member of the Council for Human Rights, you are encouraged to apply for the upcoming opening on the council. The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants to fill the vacancy, which will be created at the end of Sue Leavelle’s term.

The council’s twelve members advise the County Commissioners on issues related to prejudice, discrimination, racially motivated violence and malicious harassment. The council promotes equitable treatment of all citizens and works to reduce prejudice and its effects through prevention policies, education, resource referrals and advocacy. Together with the Commissioners, they council sponsor the Annual Human Rights Conference.

Except in December, the council meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. Their meetings, which are open to the public, are held at John Horsley Community Center, Island Lake County Park.

An Application may be obtained at Kitsap County Volunteer Services, Department of Administrative Services, 614 Division Street, Port Orchard. To receive an application packet by mail, please contact Jan Koske at 360-337-4650 or jkoske@co.kitsap.wa.us, or complete the Application online. Applications must be submitted no later than 4:30 PM on November 4, 2005.
