Kitsap County Celebrates Mentoring
Month

ORCHARD, WA—Kitsap County will celebrate National and Kitsap
County Mentoring Month
in January 2007 by hosting a multimedia event on Monday, January 8, 5:30
to 7:00 p.m., at the Community Room in the Norm Dicks Government Center.
The event,
organized by the Kitsap Youth Mentoring Consortium, will feature
community leaders and teens who will talk about the importance of providing
support and guidance for youth to promote their success in school and in
life. Among the community leaders to speak will be Kitsap County
Commissioner Chris Endresen, Superior Court Judge Theodore Spearman and
South Kitsap School District Superintendent Beverly Cheney. Youth mentors
from the North Kitsap High School Teen Mentor Program and the Poulsbo Junior
High Peer Mentor Program are also scheduled to speak. One of
the themes of the event is “Who mentored you? Thank them and pass it on!”
Program staff and mentors from eleven different programs mentor programs will be on
hand to answer questions, and resource information will also be available.
