Deputy Sheriff’s Guild Ratifies New Contract
PORT
ORCHARD, WA—The Kitsap County Deputy Sheriff’s Guild has ratified a
settlement negotiated by the guild and county representatives. The
settlement resolves wage and insurance issues and will result in a two-year
deal.
The
settlement provides for a 3% pay increase effective January 2006 and the
county’s standard Consumer Price Index cost of living adjustment for 2007.
In addition, the settlement places the deputies on the county’s standard
medical insurance plans for 2006. In 2007, the deputies will remain on the
same plans, but will pay 10% of the cost to cover family members.
“This settlement represents a compromise on both sides.” said Rob Gudmundson,
Labor Relations Manager for
Kitsap
County. “The parties based the compromise on the pattern of settlements
awarded by interest arbitrators for police and firefighters in
Washington
State
over the past several years.”
Sheriff Boyer is also pleased the deputies voted to ratify their 2006/2007
labor agreement. “The guild and the county’s representatives have negotiated
a fair contract, which I encourage the county commissioners to adopt,” said
Sheriff Boyer. “My deputies do an outstanding job for our citizens, and it
will be good to see them and their families enjoy the benefits of this new
contract.”
