Applicants Sought for Washington
State Council on Aging
PORT
ORCHARD, WA—The Kitsap County Division of Aging & Long Term Care
is seeking applicants to represent Kitsap County membership on the
Washington State Council on Aging (WSCOA). WSCOA members are nominated by
the Kitsap County Division of Aging & Long Term Care Advisory Council (ALTC)
and appointed by the Governor to provide a valuable link between the state
and our community.
Nominees should be active community members age 55 or
older, who are knowledgeable about health and social issues and their
solutions. Applicants with a working knowledge of the aging network and the
ability to understand and represent the needs of vulnerable older adults are
preferred. Members of diverse ethnic groups are especially encouraged to
apply.
The SCOA meets one day a month in either Sea-Tac or Olympia, and
travel expenses are reimbursed. SCOA members become ad hoc members of the
local ALTC Advisory Council and are expected to attend monthly meetings. Members of the SCOA and the ALTC Advisory Council also attend
forums on elder issues throughout the year and participate on additional committees and task forces.
The deadline for application is Monday, September 18,
2006, with interviews to be held on Thursday, September 21, 2006.
For further information and an application form, contact the Kitsap County Division of Aging and Long Term Care at 360-337-7068.
