Human Rights Council Members Needed

ORCHARD, WA—If you are interested in serving your
community as a member of the Council for Human Rights, you are encouraged to
apply for current openings in Commissioner Districts 2 and 3. The
Council’s 12 members advise the county commissioners on issues related
to prejudice, discrimination, racially motivated violence and malicious
harassment. The council promotes equitable treatment of all citizens and
works to reduce prejudice and its effects through prevention policies,
education, resource referrals and advocacy. Together with the Kitsap Board of
County Commissioners, they sponsor the Annual Human Rights Conference.
The Council meets on the second Tuesday of every
month at 6:00 p.m, except in December. Their meetings, which are open to the public, are usually
held at the Silverdale Community Center.
An application may be obtained at Kitsap County Volunteer Services,
Administration Building fourth floor, 619 Division Street, Port Orchard. To
