Keyport Community Begins Planning Study
KEYPORT, WA—Beginning in February 2007, Kitsap County Department
of Community Development staff, in conjunction with local citizens will
begin work on a planning study for Keyport, with the goal of preparing a
community plan. Keyport has preliminarily been identified by the County as a
candidate for a designated “limited area of more intensive rural
development”, or LAMIRD, which would recognize Keyport’s identity under the
Washington State Growth Management Act as a rural village with historical
boundaries while preventing urban-type sprawl.
The initial meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13th,
2007, at the Keyport Bible Church located at 15270 Washington Ave NE,
Keyport, WA 98345. The meeting will include a discussion of the planning
process, community and planning background, community boundaries, and future
goals. Subcommittees may also be established in the future to study specific
issues. It is anticipated that a draft plan will be completed to be
submitted to the Board of County Commissioners by the end of 2007.
For more information on the meeting, to volunteer, or for additional
information on Kitsap County planning, contact James Weaver, Senior Planner,
