Steve Bauer sworn in as Kitsap County District 1
commissioner
PORT
ORCHARD, WA—With his mother and wife looking on, Hansville
community leader Steve Bauer, 62, was sworn in today as county commissioner
for Kitsap County District 1. A retired Bellevue city manager and finance
director for Portland, Oregon, Bauer fills in the unexpired term of Chris
Endresen who resigned on June 26 to become US Senator Maria Cantwell’s state
director. Bauer’s oath of office was administered by Kitsap County Superior
Court Judge Ted Spearman.
“I am honored and humbled to be appointed as a Kitsap County commissioner,
and I am looking forward to working hard to serve all of the people of
Kitsap County,” Bauer said.
Bauer was the top pick among 11 democratic candidates to replace Endresen
and he was the unanimous choice for the appointment by Kitsap County
Commissioners Josh Brown and Jan Angel. Bauer brings professional
understanding of Kitsap County government, having served the county last
year as a consultant studying the Department of Community Development,
offering recommendations to make the department run smoother and more
efficiently.
Bauer’s term expires in December 2008 and he says he plans to run for
election in 2008 to retain his seat.
