Kitsap County Citizen’s Budget Committee helps
officials with budget decisions
(Port Orchard, WA) Kitsap County’s Board of
Commissioners created a new community group that focuses on the County
budget during the regular Board meeting Monday night. The Citizen Budget
Committee consists of twelve community members with an interest in finance.
Their task includes examining County revenue, expenditures, and mandated
costs. From this examination they develop recommendations for a sustainable
budget to support County services.
The committee also advises Commissioners on budget
priorities, efficiencies and improvements in service delivery, and assesses
county services and customer satisfaction. The committee presents a report,
independent of County officials, to the public on County performance.
The Board is seeking residents to become
members of the committee. Candidates must be able to read and interpret
financial reports, be thoughtful and visionary, and be able to function as
part of an advisory team. The committee meets twice each month, with
occasional meetings at other times. Meetings begin later this Spring.
Interested persons are encouraged to apply by contacting Jan Koske, Kitsap
County Volunteer Services Coordinator at (360) 337-4650 or
jkoske@co.kitsap.wa.us. An
application may also be completed on line at
www.kitsapgov.com/volunteer/current.htm. Application are accepted
through March 28, 2008.
