Yard Waste Amnesty Day at Emu Composting Facility

(Port Orchard, WA) – Kitsap County residents may bring yard waste to the Yard Waste Amnesty Day at Emu Composting Facility on Sunday, September 28th. There will be no fees charged to residential customers for this event.

Businesses, landscapers, or commercial vehicles are charged at normal rate. There is no volume restriction for residential customers. 

Materials accepted:

• woody debris

• brush

• grass

• stumps and branches

• lumber, plywood, and OSB (painted okay, but keep separate)

Material NOT accepted:

• pressure treated lumber

• railroad ties

• garbage, plastics

• tires

• scrap metal

• household hazardous waste

Remember to cover and secure your load.

Recycling and garbage facilities will not accept yard waste for free.

This program is part of an ongoing effort by Kitsap County Public Works to provide recycling alternatives to outdoor burning. The public may recycle their yard waste at Emu Composting Facility year round and is open daily. Call 360-638-0117 for hours and fees.
