Volunteers Needed to Help Restore Chico Creek
(Port Orchard, WA) – The heavy
lifting is over, but their is still work to be done. There are many
opportunities in April where you can help restore Chico Creek.
Last summer grant funds allowed a portion of Chico Creek at Kitsap Golf
and Country Club to be restored to a more natural path. The restoration
projected included placing logs and other salmon habitat features to enhance
the creek. April is prime time for planting native trees and shrubs. The new
plants provide shade, habitat, and other benefits for salmon and other
wildlife.
Community volunteers are needed to help complete this phase of the
restoration project. We are planting at the creek on these dates:
• Saturday, April 11th – 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon
• Tuesday, April 14th – 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Saturday, April 18th – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
• Tuesday, April 21st – 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
