Apex Road Intersection Nearly Complete

(Port Orchard) - Crews are putting the final touches on a road project that added a left turn lane on Anderson Hill Road to Apex Road. “There’s still some ancillary work being done but we expect the contractor will have the project wrapped up next week,” according to Jaques Dean, Construction Manager for Kitsap County Public Work. The work is being done by Primo Construction from Sequim under a $241,222 contract.

The work, which began May 4th, widened the existing lanes to 12 feet and added four foot paved shoulders in addition to the turn lane. The project also included drainage improvements. “This project increases safety at the intersection and allows for better traffic flows on Anderson Hill,” said Josh Brown, Kitsap County Commissioner. “It’s part of a comprehensive package of road improvements that is making it easier to get in and around the Silverdale area,” said Brown.

Other projects this summer in Central Kitsap include finishing repairs to the Chico bridge (late August completion), adding turn lanes at the Bucklin Hill and Tracyton Beach intersection (late October completion), the new mural on the Anderson Hill Road overpass (end of June), and the continuing work on the new Waaga Way extension (end of the year) as well as several maintenance projects. To keep track of road projects throughout the County check The Road Report (www.kitsapgov.com/pw/roadwork.htm.) Sign up to have the report emailed each week or bookmark the page and check frequently. “We know road work can be an inconvenience,” said Brown, “but the permanent improvements are worth enduring the temporary inconveniences.”
