Port Orchard) –  January is National and Kitsap County Mentoring Month. The Kitsap Mentoring Celebration recognizes this designation, and provides an excellent opportunity for the community to learn about mentoring programs and other youth development activities.

The celebration is Tuesday, January 26th at the Crossroads Neighborhood Church (7555 Old Military Road NE in Bremerton) and begins at 5:00 PM. Bob Mortimer, a nationally known speaker, delivers the keynote address. Mr. Mortimer, a Gig Harbor resident, is an inspirational speaker, husband, father of three and a triple amputee. He shares his humorous and inspiring story in a unique presentation that youth, as well as parents, educators, youth service providers, mentors and interested community members find informative and interesting.

The Kitsap Mentoring Celebration is organized by the Kitsap Youth Mentoring Consortium and co-sponsored by Kitsap County Commission on Children and Youth and Kitsap Tobacco Alcohol and Other Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition. Along with Mr. Mortimer’s presentation the event features information about local mentoring programs and youth development opportunities.
