Disposal Assistance Available to Flood Victims

(Port Orchard, WA) - Residents who had flood damage to their homes during the Dec 11th and 12th storm may be eligible to receive disposal vouchers for free disposal of flood damaged household materials. These vouchers may be used at the Olympic View Transfer Station through December 31, 2010.

Flood-damaged material eligible for free disposal includes wet carpet, furniture, sheetrock, insulation, siding, flooring, clothing and other flood-damaged household goods.

To begin this process if you have internet capability, file your report of flood damage inside your home online with Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management at If not, call  360-307-5871 to report flood damage inside your home. Be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Physical address
  • Phone number
  • Description of damage

Staff will verify that your property has experienced flood damage and issue disposal vouchers. If you have already reported your damage, you will be contacted regarding the disposal vouchers.

Yard debris such as fallen trees or branches are not accepted. See What Do I Do With It at for locations of where to dispose of woody debris.
