Governor announces appointment of Commissioner Brown to
(Port Orchard, WA) – Governor Chris Gregoire announced
last Thursday that Commissioner Josh Brown has been appointed to the Salmon
Recovery Funding Board (SRFB), filling the vacancy left by Clallam County
Commissioner Steve Tharinger, who resigned when he was elected to the state
Brown, who also serves as Chair of the Hood Canal
Coordinating Council (HCCC), sees great parallel between the two. “The
water quality problems that the HCCC has worked to address impacts the
recovery programs that are implemented by SRFB,” Brown stated.
Brown has distinguished himself as a regional leader,
where he is the incoming President of the Puget Sound Regional Council.
He also is an active member of the Washington State Association of
Counties, where he has represented Kitsap County on the association’s
Legislative Steering Committee since 2007. He is past-president of the
association’s Western District, and past-Chair of WSAC’s Coastal
Counties Caucus. He also serves on the Transportation Committee for the
National Association of Counties.
The appointment effective upon Senate Approval will run through July of
