Public hearing slated for Shoreline Inventory and Characterization

Commissioners consider adopting the report at regular
Board Meeting Monday

(Port Orchard, WA) – A public hearing to consider adopting the Kitsap County Shoreline Inventory and Characterization report is planned during the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners’ regular meeting Monday, May 23. The hearing is scheduled for 7:15 PM. The report supports the County’s on-going Shoreline Master Plan (SMP) update process. The County is in the process of a comprehensive update to their Shoreline Master Program as required by state law (RCW 90.58). A shoreline inventory and characterization is a required element of that update (WAC 173-26-201). The Kitsap County Shoreline Inventory and Characterization compiles information from existing documents and studies on Kitsap County’s shoreline land uses, environments, and other information for the shoreline areas as defined in RCW 90.58.030. A fact sheet and the final draft of the report are available online at

The Board of Commissioners meet in the Commissioners Chambers just inside the main entrance of County Administration Building. The building is located at 619 Division Street in Port Orchard, directly across from the County Courthouse.
