Sustainable Cinema Series features "Play Again"
The documentary investigates
the consequences of a childhood removed from nature and encourages action
for a sustainable future
(Port Orchard, WA) -
The 2011-12 Kitsap County Sustainable Cinema Series
kicks off this Sunday, July 24, with a showing of the award winning documentary
PLAY AGAIN. The film will be shown at the historic Dragonfly Cinema in downtown
Port Orchard at 2:00 p.m. YMCA Youth Programs staff member, Rachelle Jensen,
will lead a discussion at the film’s conclusion.
PLAY AGAIN is directed by
Tonje Hessen Schi, produced by Meg Merrill, and edited by David Bee. The
soundtrack includes music from Icelandic band Sigur Ros and singer Kimya Dawson.
At a time when children spend more time in the
virtual world than the natural world, PLAY AGAIN unplugs a group of media savvy
teens and takes them on their first wilderness adventure, showing the wonder
that comes from time spent in nature.
The film encourages individuals, families, schools,
and communities to examine their relationships with both screen technology and
nature, and inspires them to take action to reconnect children to the natural
There is no charge. Donations are accepted to defray
the costs to continue the series.
The Sustainable Cinema Series was created to provide
interactive and educational information to Kitsap County residents about
