Stormwater Outreach Programs featured on "Commissioner's Corner" with
Commissioner Garrido

(Port Orchard, WA) - The Kitsap County Surface and Stormwater Management Program (SSWM) is featured on the current episode of Bremerton – Kitsap Access Television (BKAT)’s “Commissioner’s Corner.” Commissioner Charlotte Garrido invited SSWM partner agencies to talk about the Manchester-Long Lake watershed newsletter (click here to view) and some of the programs featured in it.

Commissioner Garrido talks with the following people about SSWM programs:

  • Jayna Ericson, Kitsap County Public Works, discusses the Puget Sound Starts Here campaign, which encourages people to make small changes in their everyday activities to help improve the health of Puget Sound.

  • Stuart Whitford, Kitsap County Health District, discusses water quality programs and monitoring, particularly in the Manchester area.

  • Teresa Brooks, Kitsap Conservation District, explains what a rain garden is and how residents in unincorporated Kitsap County can receive technical assistance and apply for a cost-share to build rain gardens on their property. For rain garden information, click here

  • Glynis Casey, Stream Steward Volunteer with WSU Kitsap County Extension, talks about the fun and learning experience in being a volunteer with Washington State University’s stewardship programs.
